Refill sits tightly inside the wooden frame and it is not intended to be used without the frame which offers anti-slip feature.

How often will you need to replace the cardboard?
How often you will need to replace will depend on how your cat interacts with this scratcher and if you have a single or multiple cat household. If this scratcher becomes the main scratching surface for your kitty ~ based on the feedback from our customers ~ it may be approximately every 2-4 months when used daily (this is an average and it will vary from home to home. We recommend placing more options around your home to prolong the life of the cardboard.

Absolutely love woods for cats products. This is my second purchase as I bought Napoleon’s bowls from here as well. It’s made so sturdy and strong and I love the fact you can just replace the cardboard insert. Napoleon loves using it as both a scratcher and a bed. It’s a nice big size so it gives him plenty of space to stretch out

The fur kids love it. William and Adelaide, both chunky brits can stretch out comfortably on this scratcher, it’s a really nice sturdy scratcher and generous in size. My cats enjoy lying on it in front of a sunny window ….. it’s the cat version of a day bed
